Lore Lassen is the New York Times bestselling author of five novels, including A Woman of Some Renown, Monster Revision, Permanent in Pencil, Assumption, and the breakout bestseller Order of Opposites, adapted into a major motion picture of the same name.

Known for literary Gothic mysteries that blur the line between the uncanny and the unexplained, Lassen writes about women, secrets, unreliable evidence, and stories that change depending on who is telling them. A folklorist, photographer, and lifelong traveler, she holds a master's degree in folklore from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in Elsewhere, North Carolina.
